Mochi Dash

Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 4, 2026
The short version: Mochi Dash has no account, no sign-in and no server of its own. The camera is used only to see your body pose while you use the App. Frames are processed on your iPhone and are never saved, uploaded or shared. Your progress stays on your device. We, the developer, never receive any of your data. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers.

1Who we are

Mochi Dash (the "App") is a home walking and fitness app for iPhone made by an independent developer. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the App. Questions are welcome: email us.

2The camera

The App needs the front camera to work. While you are in the Get in frame step or in a session, the App passes each camera frame to Apple's Vision framework, which runs on your iPhone and finds the position of body points such as your shoulders, hips, knees, ankles and wrists. The App uses those points to count steps, notice knee lifts, count squats for the Walk time squat pass (wrists show when your hands are together to start), and check that you are in frame.

  • Camera frames and body points are kept in memory only for the moment they are needed, then discarded.
  • The App never records video, never takes photos with the camera, and never saves or sends camera frames anywhere.
  • The App does not use face recognition and does not identify who you are.
  • The camera turns off when you leave a session or the Get in frame step.

Backup file you choose to export: your profile, friends, runs and recordsWherever you save it (Files, iCloud Drive, another app)Only whoever you give it to. We never receive it.
Walk time settings (Mochi Plus): your walk time, minutes, days, the apps you allow, and which days you walked, skipped or did the squat passYour device only. Allowed apps are stored as Apple's private tokens, so even the App can't see their names. No one
Purchases and subscriptionsHandled entirely by Apple (StoreKit)Apple. The App only learns whether Mochi Plus is active, never your payment details.

Your data is not synced to iCloud by the App. If you back up your iPhone, the App's data is included in that backup under Apple's terms. You can also export your own backup file in Settings › Backup, as described in section 9.

4Permissions the App may ask for

  • Camera: required to use the App, as described in section 2.
  • Apple Health: optional, and only when you tap Health on a result. The App asks to write workouts and active energy so your session appears in the Health app. It does not read any of your health data.
  • Screen Time: optional, only if you turn on Walk time (Mochi Plus). Mochi Dash uses Apple's Screen Time to lock other apps at your walk time and open them after your walk. You pick the apps that stay open in Apple's own picker; the App only receives private tokens, never which apps you use or for how long. You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Screen Time.
  • Notifications: optional, for Walk time reminders, the shortcut you can ask for on a locked app, and a reminder two days before a Mochi Plus free trial ends, with the renewal date, the price, and how to cancel. The App reads the trial's end date from your App Store purchase on your device. All notifications are created on your device; nothing is sent from a server.
  • Add to Photos: optional, only if you tap Save Image on a result picture. iOS asks permission to add that one image. The App can't see or read your photo library.

You can change any of these at any time in your iPhone's Settings app, or in the Health app for Apple Health.

5Health information

Steps, distance and calories are estimates worked out on your device from your step rate, height and weight. They are not medical measurements. Health data you save goes only into Apple Health on your device. We never receive it, and it is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, or shared with anyone.

6Sharing pictures

When you tap Preview on a result, a day in Stats, or the monthly recap, the App draws a picture on your device. It only leaves your device if you choose to share or save it with the iOS share sheet. What happens next is covered by the app or service you share it with.

7No ads, analytics or tracking

The App contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party trackers. It does not use the advertising identifier and does not track you across other apps or websites. The App makes no network requests of its own. Purchases, rating prompts and the share sheet are provided by Apple and iOS.

8Ratings

The App may occasionally show Apple's standard rating prompt after a happy session. Whether and how you respond is handled by Apple; we don't see who rated.

9Backups, keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Deleting the App removes all of its data, including the widget summary. The app icon you pick is a setting kept by iOS on your device. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.

In Settings › Backup you can export everything the App has saved (your racer name, height and weight if entered, level, friends, outfit, runs and records) as a file, and import it again, for example on a new iPhone. The file is created on your device and goes only where you choose to save or send it. It is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. Importing a backup replaces the data on that device after you confirm. Language and other small preferences are not included.

Because we don't hold any of your data, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side: you are in control of your data and of any backup files.

10Children

The App is a general-audience fitness app and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

11Changes to this policy

If we change how the App handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above before the change reaches the App.
