Nomodoro (“the App”) is a calm focus / pomodoro-style timer for iPhone with doodle companions. This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used. We designed Nomodoro to keep most data on your device. The App uses Google’s Firebase Analytics to count anonymous usage events (see section 10); it does not use any advertising or tracking SDK.

1. Who we are

2. Information the App stores on your device

The App stores the following locally (for example via UserDefaults and App Group storage):

This information is used only to operate the App’s features on your device.

3. Purchases (Nomodoro Pro)

If you purchase Nomodoro Pro (auto-renewable subscription and/or a one-time lifetime unlock), payment is processed by Apple through StoreKit / your Apple ID. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple provides purchase/entitlement status so the App can unlock Pro features (such as more Focus hours windows, days and apps, the slime squad, more nature sounds, custom breaks and rounds, and exclusive Friends companions) and restore purchases on devices signed in with your Apple ID. If you start a free trial, the App stores the trial end date on your device so it can remind you before the trial ends.

4. Backup export & import

Nomodoro lets every user (Free and Pro) export a backup file (JSON) that you save via the system share/Files sheet, and later import that file. Export/import is user-initiated. The backup can include profile fields, preferences, unlocked companions, and focus history stored in the App. We do not host or receive that file on our servers — it stays under your control on the destination you choose. Treat backup files like personal data and store them securely.

5. Notifications

The App uses local notifications only, scheduled on your device: Strict mode warnings when you leave a focus session, the end of a focus session or break, a “Focus time” banner when one of your Focus hours windows starts, and, if you start a Pro free trial, a reminder 2 days before the trial ends. Notification permission is optional and can be changed in iOS Settings. Notification content is generated on-device; we do not send push notifications.

6. Sharing the App

If you use “Recommend to friends,” the system share sheet may open with the App’s public App Store link. We do not receive the contacts or messages you choose in that sheet.

7. Screen Time (Whitelist mode and Focus hours)

Whitelist mode uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity). You grant access in iOS, pick the apps and websites that stay allowed, and every other app is shielded only while a focus session runs. Focus hours uses the same frameworks: the apps and categories you choose are shielded during the daily windows you set (even when the App is closed, through an on-device Device Activity extension) and opened for the break after a finished focus session. Apple gives the App opaque tokens for your choices, not the names of your apps; they are stored on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. You can turn Screen Time access off at any time in iOS Settings.

8. Calls during a Strict session

In Strict mode the App checks, on your device, whether a phone or VoIP call is in progress (Apple’s CallKit call observer) so that answering a call pauses the session instead of failing it. The App never reads who you are talking to, and nothing about your calls leaves your device. This check is not used on the App Store in China.

9. Share card

“Show off today” creates an image of your day (focus time, sessions, mood, companion) on your device. It is only shared if you send it yourself through the system share sheet.

10. Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)

To learn which features help people focus and where the App is confusing, Nomodoro uses Google Firebase Analytics (provided by Google LLC). It records events such as finishing onboarding, starting, finishing or ending a focus session early (with the focus mode, timer mode and minutes), changing the focus mode, turning on Focus hours, opening the Pro screen, and the result of a purchase or restore (plan type, trial or not), plus whether you are on Free or Pro. Firebase also collects standard technical data: an app-instance identifier created by Firebase, device model, iOS and App version, language, and approximate country or region.

12. iCloud / cloud sync

The current version does not sync your focus history or preferences through iCloud or our own servers. Data remains on your device (and Apple’s purchase systems for subscriptions / lifetime unlock), apart from the anonymous usage events described in section 10. Optional backup files are only created when you export them.

13. Children

Nomodoro is a general productivity/focus tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

14. Data retention & deletion

Local App data remains until you delete the App or clear it via device settings. Deleting the App removes on-device App data (unless you previously exported a backup file elsewhere). Apple ID purchase and subscription history remains with Apple according to Apple’s policies. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings. Deleting the App also resets its Firebase app-instance identifier; analytics events already sent expire under the Google Analytics retention period.

15. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves (for example if cloud sync is added later). The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy.
