Privacy Policy
1Who we are
CoupleBites (the "App") is made by an independent developer. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the App. Questions are welcome: email us.
2No accounts, no servers of our own
You never create an account or sign in, and the App never talks to a server run by us. If you're signed in to iCloud on your device, the App keeps your diary in your own private iCloud storage (Apple's CloudKit), so it stays safe and in sync. That data belongs to your Apple account: it counts toward your iCloud storage, Apple protects it, and we can't access it. If you're not signed in to iCloud, everything stays on your device.
3What's stored, and where

4Permissions the App may ask for
- Camera: to photograph a meal you're logging.
- Photos: to pick an existing photo for a meal, the App uses Apple's photo picker, which hands back only the photos you choose. The App can't browse your library. If you save a recap card to Photos, iOS asks for permission to add that one image; the App still can't read your library.
- Location (while using the App): optional, only to suggest nearby place names when you tag where you ate (a Pro feature). Searching for places uses Apple Maps, so your approximate location and search text go to Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Nothing goes to us, and the App works fine if you say no.
- Notifications: optional. They tell you when your partner logs a meal or reacts to yours, and when your monthly recap is ready. They're created on your device from your iCloud data, not sent by any server of ours.
You can change any of these at any time in your device's Settings app.
5On-device photo processing
When you add a photo, the App uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to tell food from drinks and to cut the dish out of its background for the sticker look. This happens entirely on your device: the photo isn't sent to us or to Apple for it.
6Sharing a diary with your partner
You can invite one partner to share your diary using Apple's iCloud sharing. The invite is a link you send yourself, from any app you like. It opens a small page on our website (hosted by GitHub Pages) that hands the invite to the App. That page doesn't use cookies, analytics or forms; like any website host, GitHub may keep standard technical logs under its own privacy statement.
Once your partner joins, you both see and add meals in the shared diary, including photos, place tags, reactions, the shared slime, and each other's display name and avatar.
Either of you can end sharing at any time from the App. Each of you keeps a copy of the diary up to that point. The shared data is stored in the inviter's iCloud and handled by Apple; it never passes through a server of ours.
7Analytics, advertising and third parties
The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code, and we don't sell, rent or share your data, because we never have it. The only third party involved is Apple: iCloud, the App Store and in-app purchases, and Apple Maps for place search.
Once in a while, after you've used the App for a bit, it may show Apple's standard "rate this app" prompt. "Write a Review" and "Recommend to Friends" in Settings open the App Store or the iOS share sheet; nothing from your diary is sent along.
8Children
The App isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children, or from anyone (see section 2).
9Deleting your data
Deleting the App removes the diary from that device. The copy in your iCloud stays until you remove it. On iPhone, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › CoupleBites › Delete Data. If you share a diary, end sharing in the App first; your partner keeps their copy as described above. Backup files you've saved elsewhere are yours to delete separately.
10Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. The App has no way to contact you, so please check this page now and then.
