Privacy Policy

CoupleBites · Effective date: August 27, 2026

The short version: CoupleBites has no server, no account, and no sign-in. Your diary, your photos, and your name stay on your device unless you personally choose to export them or share a meal with your partner's phone directly. We — the developer — never receive, see, or store any of it.

1. Who We Are

CoupleBites is developed by an independent developer. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the App. If you have questions, contact tnson@bwaco.vn.

2. No Accounts, No Servers

CoupleBites does not require you to create an account or sign in, and it does not communicate with any backend server operated by us. There is nothing for us to collect, because nothing you enter in the App ever leaves your device on its own.

4. Permissions the App May Ask For

Camera — to photograph a meal you're logging, and to scan your partner's QR code when receiving a meal they've shared with you.
Photos — the App uses Apple's built-in photo picker to let you choose an existing photo for a meal or your profile avatar. This picker runs outside the App itself and only ever hands back the exact photo you pick — the App is never given access to, and cannot browse, your photo library.
Location (While Using) — optional, used only to suggest a nearby place name to tag a meal with. You can decline this and tag meals manually or not at all.
Local Network — used only when you actively start or join a "share a meal with your partner" session, to find and connect to their phone directly over Bluetooth/Wi-Fi. It is not used for anything else, and no data is exchanged unless a meal transfer is actually in progress.
Notifications — optional, only if you turn on meal-logging reminders (breakfast/lunch/dinner) in Settings. These are local, on-device reminders scheduled by the App itself at times you choose — they never involve a push service, a server, or any data leaving your device, and each one can be turned off individually anytime.

You can review or change any of these permissions anytime in your device's Settings app.

5. On-Device Photo Recognition

When you add a photo, CoupleBites uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to sort it as food or a drink and to cut out its background for the sticker look — the same underlying technology behind Photos' own subject-lift and search features. This runs entirely on your device; the photo is never sent anywhere, to us or to Apple, to make this happen.

6. Sharing a Meal With Your Partner

When you share a meal, the App creates a short-lived, one-time QR code and connects directly to your partner's device over a local peer-to-peer connection — never through the internet or any server, and encrypted the whole way using Apple's standard networking frameworks. Only the meal you chose to share (its photos, date, and your display name/avatar) is sent, directly to that one device.

7. Analytics, Advertising & Third Parties

CoupleBites does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, because we do not have access to it in the first place. The only third party involved at all is Apple, which processes in-app purchases through StoreKit under its own privacy policy.

8. Children's Privacy

CoupleBites is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children, consistent with Section 2 above (we don't collect information from anyone).

9. Data Deletion

Because everything lives on your device, deleting the App deletes your diary, photos, and profile with it. If you've saved a backup file elsewhere (Files, iCloud Drive, etc.), that copy is yours to delete separately from wherever you saved it.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Since the App has no way to reach you directly (no account, no push notifications about policy changes), please check back here occasionally if you'd like to stay informed.
