Terms of Use

By downloading or using Pocket Rook ("the App"), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Pocket Rook is a mobile application for playing chess face to face, on one device or between two nearby devices over a local peer-to-peer connection. The App does not require an internet connection for gameplay.

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).

3. In-App Purchases

Prices are shown in USD and may vary by country. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions). Refunds are handled by Apple under its refund policy. Earlier Piece Pack purchases continue to unlock Pro.

4. Free Tier

Without Pro you can play an unlimited number of games on one device and up to five two-phone games per day. If either player in a two-phone game has Pro, that game is free for both. The free tier has no advertisements.

5. User Conduct

You agree to use the App in a manner consistent with all applicable laws. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App beyond what is permitted by law.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, graphics, and code in the App are owned by the developer of Pocket Rook and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The traditional rules of chess are in the public domain.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Pocket Rook shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

9. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
